Feisty Italian Meatballs

Ingredient list

¼ cup seasoned fine dry bread crumbs ¼ cup bottled chili sauce 2 Tbs. finely chopped onions 1 Tbs. grated Parmesan or Romano cheese 1 Tbs. finely chopped, drained bottled cherry peppers or pepperoncini salad peppers 1 ½ tsp. fennel seeds, crushed 1 lb. lean ground pork 1 26-or28-oz. jar meatless tomato-based pasta sauce ¼ cup chopped, drained bottled cherry peppers or pepperoncini salad peppers 3 cups hot cooked mafalda pasta

Preparation

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 15x10x1-inch baking pan; set aside. In a large bowl. Combine bread crumbs, chili sauce, onion, Parmesan cheese, the 1 Tbs. chopped peppers, and fennel seeds. Add ground pork; mix well. Shape mixture into 36 meatballs. Place meatballs in prepared baking pan. - Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until done. Drain off fat. - Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, heat pasta sauce until bubbly. Stir in baked meatballs and the ¼ cup chopped peppers; heat through. Serve meatball mixture over hot cooked pasta. Makes 6 servings.
